Criteria: Awarded to airmen for selection to the “12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year” Competition Program
Devices: Bronze, Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star
Authorized on February 21, 1968. Awarded to those 12 airmen chosen from nominees throughout the Air Force, field operation agencies, the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard in the 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year Program. The award of the ribbon is retroactive to include those selected for this program as of June 1970. The 12 current designees wear a bronze service star and multiple winners wear oak leaf clusters to denote additional awards.
