ND Legion of Merit

The North Dakota Legion of Merit Medal Ribbon is officially hallmarked by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry. This decoration is awarded for distinguished and outstanding service, by any member or former member of the North Dakota National Guard, for a period of 20 years of duty to the National Guard, community, state, and nation. It may also be awarded to a member or former member of the U.S. Armed Forces, or of the National Guard of another state, who performs outstanding service for the National Guard of North Dakota. On March 21st, 1973 this award was authorized by the state legislature, as passed in HB 1134 and recorded in Ch 277. Current authority is contained in Sec 37-01-10.1. On the left and right ends of the ribbon there is a color pattern of red (⅛ inch), blue (⅛ inch), and red (⅛ inch), and a white middle measuring ½ inch with three blue stars. North Dakota Legion of Merit Ribbons are made with the highest government standards and are US Military approved. All ribbons of the US Military are made in the USA. Ribbons are unmounted and do not come with a holding bar.
