The West Virginia Commendation Medal Ribbon is officially hallmarked by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry. This ribbon is awarded for exceptionally meritorious public service/achievement, or exceptional bravery, by any person upon the recommendation of any elected state, county, or municipal official. On March 12th, 1965 this ribbon was authorized by the state legislature in HB 838, as recorded in Ch 138, Acts of 1965. Comes in navy blue with five gold stripes. West Virginia Commendation Medal Ribbons are made with the highest government standards and are US Military approved. All ribbons of the US Military are made in the USA by US Veterans. Ribbons are unmounted and do not come with a holding bar. To purchase this ribbon for yourself or a family member's shadow box, or display case, we require a DD-214 or other valid proof that this medal was honorably awarded.
