NY Meritorious Service Medal

The New York Meritorious Service Medal Ribbon is officially hallmarked by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry. The Meritorious Service Medal ribbon is awarded for valor, exceptionally meritorious achievement, or meritorious service by any member of the organized militia on or after April 17th, 1979. Awards of valor must have involved personal hazard or danger and the voluntary risk of injury. Typically this award is not given unless served more than six years. On October 1st, 1981 this award appears to have been authorized with the publication of MR 26, although it is possible that it was authorized earlier by a change to the previous regulation. The ribbon has red ends that measure 5/16 inch and the middle of the ribbon has a stripe pattern of blue (1/16 inch) and white (1/16 inch) stripes. New York Meritorious Service Medal Ribbons are made with the highest government standards and are US Military approved. All ribbons of the US Military are made in the USA. Ribbons are unmounted and do not come with a holding bar.
