The Tennessee Volunteer Recruiting & Retention Unit Citation Ribbon is officially hallmarked by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry. This award is for outstanding achievement or special contributions to the recruiting and retention efforts for the state of Tennessee. For awards based on exceptional service, the following criteria apply; exceptional results in recruiting, maintaining 100 percent of authorized strength for a satisfactory period of time, exceptional results in retention, maintaining an exceptionally high retention rate for a satisfactory period of time. This award, designed by MSG Winfield C. Reed was authorized sometime between 1976 and 1981, but the exact date cannot be determined. The ribbon displays green ends measuring 5/16 inch, two red stripes with a white stripe in between measuring 1/16 inch on both sides, and a gold middle that is ⅜ inch. Tennessee Volunteer Recruiting & Retention Unit Citation Ribbons are made with the highest government standards and are US Military approved. All ribbons of the US Military are made in the USA. Ribbons are unmounted and do not come with a holding bar.
