The International March of Diekirch is held every year and attracts around 8,000 locals and tourists from the surrounding Luxembourg region. It was first organized by the Luxembourg Army in 1968 and for those who finish the march, are awarded the Diekirch Medal. This medal commemorates the twice liberated Luxembourg from foreign oppression and shows gratitude toward U.S. Soldiers who liberated Luxembourg in 1918 and in 1944.
