This Army Warrant Officer 1 rank insignia patch is designed for wear with the new Army OCP uniforms and meets all new regulations. This patch measures 2 x 2 inches, displays the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP)  previously referred to as “Scorpion W2”, and is outfitted with a hook and loop back for secure attachment. The warrant officer rank was created to fill special positions required and greater technical skill and responsibility than a noncommissioned officer, but without the responsibility of command. This rank originated hundreds of years ago in the British Navy and was traditionally given to senior personnel who had years of expertise and technical skill which set them apart from other sailors. Army Warrant Officer (WO W1) is the first warrant officer rank awarded out of six WO ranks. The WO W1 insignia is 100% USA Made and displays one black block on a gold bar.
