The Air Force Band Badge was authorized in 1993 and awarded to both officers and enlisted personnel in the band career field. The Air Force band was created in 1941 as the Bolling Army Air Corps Band. The purpose of the Air Force band is to maintain true morale and to aid USAF retention and recruiting programs. There are two premier bands, including the USAF Band and the USAF Band of the Rockies. There are nine regional bands in the US and three bands in overseas locations. The USAHS band consists of several instrumental and singing groups that perform all over the world to a variety of audiences in a variety of settings. These groups include the Singing Sergeants; the Airmen of Note; the Concert Band; High Flight; Silver Wings; the Strolling Strings; Ceremonial Brass; and the Chamber Players.
