This rating was instituted in 1937 as "Military Airplane Pilot." then changed to Senior Pilot. To qualify for the Senior Pilot Wings, personnel must have 7 years as a rated pilot, permanent award of pilot rating, 2,000 total hours or flight time or 1300 of any combination of primary, instructor, and/or evaluator pilot time. This badge displays the Federal Shield centered upon a pair of wings.
