Introduced on July 27, 1950, the Senior Aviator Badge is reserved for esteemed Army personnel with 1,500 hours in aircraft and those who have held a basic Army Aviator badge for at least 7 years. The badge bears wings to represent the skills associated with aerial flight, a central U.S. coat of arms shield representing loyalty and devotion, and a star atop the shield to indicating qualification as a Senior Army Aviator.
