Navy Arctic Service Ribbon

The Navy Arctic Service Ribbon was established by the Secretary of the Navy on May 8, 1986 and authorized for wear on June 3, 1987. The ribbon is awarded to members of the Naval Service who participate in operations in support of the Arctic Warfare Program.
To be eligible, the individual must have served 28 days north of, or within 50 miles of the Marginal Ice Zone (MIZ). The MIZ is defined as an area consisting of more than 10% ice concentration.
