Machinery Repairman Petty Officer 1st Class is an official rank of the United States Navy. Machinery Repairman is a skill machine tool operator that makes repairs and replacements on Navy ships. The Navy Rate you receive will be Petty Officer 1st Class and you will need to cut the rank to make 2nd or 3rd class. Established in 1948 and displays micrometer and gear with handle of micrometer to the rear and open parts of jaws holding gear. The device is worn with the handle parallel to the upper edge of the left arm of the chevron. Has a red on blue finish which indicates less than 12 years of service being regulation size and is uniform ready. Can be sewed on easily to any official United States Navy like service dress blue.
