Journalist Rating Petty Officer 1st Class

Journalist Rating Petty Officer 1st Class is an official rank of the United States Navy. This rating was merged into the new Mass Communications Specialist rating in July 2006. Navy journalists gathered information and communicated to the military and civilian communities through radio, television, military publications and hometown papers. The Navy Rate you receive will be Petty Officer 1st Class and you will need to cut the rank to make 2nd or 3rd class. Established in 1948 this rating displays scroll and quill; pen uppermost, nib of pen down and to the front. Has a red on blue finish which indicates less than 12 years of service.
