The Combat Medical Badge is 1" in height and 1 1/2" in width. It has the image of a stretcher crossed by a caduceus underneath a Greek cross, with a laurel wreath around the badge.
Qualification for the badge requires the recipient to be a member of the Army or Navy Medical Department or Air Force Medical Service and is the grade Colonel or below. The recipient must be assigned or attached to a medical unit of company or smaller size during any period the unit was engaged in active ground combat.
The Combat Medical Badge has second, third, and fourth awards associated with it.
