Coast Guard Basic Training Honor Graduate Mini-Ribbon
Instituted: 1984 Criteria: Successful attainment of the top 3 percent of the class during Coast Guard recruit training. Devices: None The Coast Guard Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon was established by the Commandant of the Coast Guard on March 3, 1984. Effective April 1, 1984, it is awarded to Coast Guard personnel comprising the top 3 percent of each Coast Guard recruit training graduating class. Individuals who graduated from Coast Guard recruit training prior to April 1, 1984 and meet the above criteria and believe themselves eligible for this award may submit a request, with supporting documentation to the Coast Guard Commandant. Prior service personnel who graduated from other than Coast Guard recruit training are not eligible for the award. Since this is a “one-time only” award, no devices are authorized. Retroactive presentations of the Basic Training Honor Graduate Ribbon may be awarded upon application from the service member to the United States Coast Guard. In such cases, the award will be presented for basic training graduation prior to 1984, only with supporting documentation and a written request from the service member.
