The California Medal of Merit is officially hallmarked by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry. This award is given for exceptionally meritorious service to the state or Nation by a member of the California National Guard in a duty of great responsibility, or, to any person who, by unselfish and untiring activities in connection with the National Guard, has rendered a distinct service in farthing the interests of and in promoting the security and welfare of the state. On June 19th, 1933 this was the third decoration authorized by the state legislature. Comes in a striped color pattern of red (3/16), golden yellow (⅛), blue (9/32), and a bigger golden yellow middle that measures 3/16 inch. California Medal of Merit Ribbons are made with the highest government standards and are US Military approved. All ribbons of the US Military are made in the USA. Ribbons are unmounted and do not come with a holding bar.
