Wear of Army Service Ribbons
Army Ribbons may be worn on the Army green, blue and white uniform coats. The ribbons are worn in one or more rows in order of precedence with either no space or 1/8 inch between rows, no more than four ribbons to a row. The top row is centered or aligned to left edge of the row underneath, whichever looks the best. Unit awards are centered above the right breast pocket with a maximum of three per row.
Wear of Full Size Decorations & Service Medals
Decorations and service medals may be worn on the Army blue or white uniform after retreat and by enlisted personnel on the dress green uniform for social functions. The medals are mounted in order of precedence, in rows with not more than four medals in a row. The top row cannot have more medals than the one below. Rows are separated by 1/8 inch. Medals may not overlap (as Navy and Marines do), so normally there are only three to a row due to the size of the coat. Service and training ribbons are not worn with full size medals.
Wear of Miniature Decorations & Service Medals
Miniature medals are scaled down replicas of full size medals. Only miniature medals are authorized for wear on the mess and evening uniform jackets and with the blue and white uniform after retreat on formal occasions. Miniature medals are mounted on bars with the order of precedence from the wearer’s right to left. The medals are mounted side by side if there are four or less. They may be overlapped up to 50% when five, six or seven are in a row. Overlapping is equal for all medals with the right one fully displayed. When two or more rows are worn, the bottom pendants must be fully visible.
