In 1958 the Marine Pistol Sharpshooter badge was a part of the change from the old to the current models in the USMC shooting badge series. Very similar to the rifle badges except for the weapon used and the size is a bit smaller than the rifle badges. The badge consists of a four-branched Maltese cross with the center emblem being the USMC Eagle, Globe, and Anchor hanging from a bar that reads: "PISTOL SHARPSHOOTER". Measures at 1 ½ inch with a mirror finish and is made in the USA. Award for having prolific sharpshooting in combat with a pistol and completing official United States Marine training.
