Introduced on May 16, 1962, the Aircrewman Badge is awarded to Army personnel on flying status or non-crew members such as observers, medical aid man, gunners, maintenance supervisors, or inspectors. The badge displays a pair of wings signifying aerial flight and an overlying central coat of arms of the United States representing loyalty and devotion. All personnel who have met the requirements of this badge since January 1, 1947, are eligible. This badge is also awarded in Senior and Master Aircraft Crew Member degrees.
