AIR FORCE Meritorious Unit AWARD
Service: Air Force
Criteria: Awarded to U.S. Air Force units for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services against an armed enemy of the United States
Devices: Bronze, Silver Oak Leaf Cluster
The Meritorious Unit Award was established in 2004 by the Secretary of the Air Force to reward active duty, Reserve and Guard units for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services for at least 90 continuous days during a period of military operations against an armed enemy on or after September 11, 2001. The unit must display such outstanding devotion and superior performance of exceptionally difficult tasks so as to set it above and apart from other units with similar missions. The degree of achievement required is the same as that which would warrant award of the Legion of Merit to an individual. Bronze and silver oak leaf clusters are worn to denote additional awards.
