The United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) is the U.S. Air Force component of U.S. European Command, a Department of Defense unified command, and is one of two Air Force major commands outside of the continental United States, the other being the Pacific Air Forces.
USAFE is headquartered at Ramstein Air Base Germany. Its commander is General Roger A. Brady. Major General Rogers is Vice Commander, and Chief Master Sergeant Gary G. Coleman is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, United States Air Forces in Europe. The command has more than 42,000 active-duty, Reserve and civilian employees assigned.
USAFE is the oldest continuously active USAF major command, being activated on January 19, 1942 when the War Department established Headquarters Eighth Air Force.
