Hat insignia. Approximately 1" diameter.

Warrant Officers initially wore enlisted cap devices until 1921 when they wore a black metal eagle of the design created by the Fine Arts Commission. The insignia became obsolete in 2004. This insignia was also worn by Pilot Warrant Officers during World War II.
