The Army Engineer Officer Insignia, worn on each point of the uniform collar, displays a triple turreted castle that has been in use by the Corps of Engineers since it was adopted in 1840. The insignia evolved over time, with the current design being finalized in 1924. The triple turreted castle symbolizes the first major construction undertaken by the Corps of Engineers - the building of a system of castle-like fortifications for the protection of Atlantic Coast harbors. This insignia is hallmarked by the U.S. Institute of Heraldry, approved for wear, and sold as a pair. The Army Engineer Officer Insignia is 100% USA made and comes with a double pin clutch back.
