ARMY ACU RANK INSIGNIA CAPTAIN
2" x 2" square rank patch. USA made. Velcro® back fastener. Sold in pack 3.

A seven-pointed, gold-colored oak leaf, raised and veined. The term was taken from the Latin word meaning "greater." The rank initially evolved from the rank of sergeant major, which in the 16th century was just below lieutenant colonel. In succeeding centuries, the rank became "major" as the "sergeant" portion was dropped. Typical assignments are battalion executive officer or staff officer.
